Thanks to the folks at Sky Truth, we offer this map of the 50 most recent (reported) Colorado spills and fracks.

And thanks to the folks at Frack Tracker, here is a map of the frac focus database (the optional database where operators send their fracking chemical information, in which about 40% of fracking chemicals are reported, according to some studies).


The interactive graph below (from a new Climate Central study) shows the relationship among leakage rate, rate of conversion from coal-fired plants to methane-fired plants, and time before a net-carbon reduction is achieved. The 50% carbon-emissions reduction claims for natural gas can be seen to be unachievable in time to save the planet. At the current rate of conversion of plants, the 50% reduction would be achieved in close to 100 years only if emissions were at 1%.
